Get to know Maria Walls, our Beaufort County Treasurer:
Hi, I’m Maria, it’s so nice to meet you! I am a Christian, wife to Rich, mom to four amazing kids, a Certified Public Accountant and a passionate public servant.
We all have a stereotype in mind when it comes to government and it usually isn’t good. For eleven years I have worked to develop a team and an Office that defies those stereotypes, and our results have been outstanding.
RAISING A FAMILY IN A COMMUNITY I BELIEVE IN:
I am blessed to be married to my high school sweetheart and we are so proud to be raising our wild gang in a community we love. As your Treasurer, you are giving me the privilege and honor of showing our children what citizen engagement and public service should look like.
CREATING LEADERS, NOT FOLLOWERS:
I believe that EVERYONE is a leader. Through our mission and core values, I have cultivated a team of leaders that puts our customers first, collaborates openly to identify the best solutions, and empowers each other to grow beyond where we were yesterday. This has allowed us to successfully tackle problems that no other team could.
